Marmot Adventures in the High Sierras
Epilogue
Epilogue
Vacation is over, for now. The marmots are returning their attention to their duties—working, shopping, home maintenance, weddings, hosting friends from out of town. But talk of their adventure still permeates their conversations and their thoughts.
Marmot 02 has written glowing reviews for the cottages they reserved in Sacramento and Medford. Since the marmots didn’t stay at the Medford cottage the owners refunded the cleaning fee which earned them some words of appreciation. Unsurprisingly, the Vacasa manager representing the Mammoth Lakes rental never called the marmots to apologize or offer them compensation of any kind. Both marmots have taken their time to write the most honest, scathing reviews they can muster to alert other potential vacationers before ski season.
Meadow the stuffed pika has now officially been adopted from the Yosemite Conservancy online.
Marmot 02 will always be grateful to Marmot 01 for sharing with her the Sierras, an unsullied gem of the earth—the singularly magical place where the mountains tower, the lakes shimmer, the native fish thrive, and the marmots and pikas still roam free.
